PTU A Gothic Obsession forum set tutorial




Supplies

Kit: The gorgeous PTU kit Gothic Obsessions by Crystal's Creations available at Artistic Reality Talent
Tube: Nana by Virgo available at Pics For Design
Template: Forum Set Template 1 by Me! available here!
Fonts: Angelic War or font of choice
Program of choice (this tutorial was written specifically for Photoshop users)

Don't forget to save frequently! *Note I didn't put how much I resized elements, since you might want to play with the sizes.

1. Open THD_ForumSetBanner template, change canvas size to 599w x 425h px (Alt+Ctrl+C).

2. Delete Info layer.

3. Select remaining layers and down slightly, your canvas should look like this (click to see larger image):


4. Open paper 1, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above blue circle 2. Create clipping mask. (Right-click layer and select "Create Clipping Mask".)

5. Open tube, copy and paste to canvas above previous layer, position on the right side. Create clipping mask. Change blending mode to "Soft Light".

6. Duplicate layer and position on the left side. Flip Horizontally (Edit->Transform->Flip Horizontal). Create clipping mask.

7. Open gothic e24, copy and paste to canvas above Previous layer. Position on the left. Create clipping mask.

8. Duplicate layer and position on the right side. Create clipping mask.

9. On the right side, I placed these elements in this order and resized each as shown. Create clipping mask after each one:

gothic e40, duplicated once
gothic e34, duplicate and select "overlay" blend mode then merge down
Duplicate above layer 3 times
gothic e17, duplicated once
gothic e4
gothic e11
gothic e7, duplcate layer and select "Overlay" blend mode
gothic e9
gothic e40
gothic e27
gothic e35
gothic e28

10. When positioned as desired, merge the layers in step 9.

11. Open gothic e36, copy and paste to canvas. Create clipping mask.

12. Duplicate layer with cluster of elements, flip horizontally and position on the right side.


13. Change the color of the frames if desired. You can use a paper or flood fill a layer and create clipping mask, or you can use a color overlay (in the layer styles).

14. Open tube, resize so it fits canvas, no larger than 420 px in height. Copy and paste to canvas. Position as desired.

15. Add name. I used Angelic War 72 pt  black with 2px stroke #780000 (blend mode  of stroke set to "Hard Light").

16. Add drop shadow to layers if desired.

17. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished with the banner!



Avi (very easy once banner is completed)

1. Open THD_ForumSetAvi Template.

2. Select these layers from the banner: both background layers and one of the clusters.

3. With two background layers selected, resize to fit (Ctrl+T, lock aspect ratio and drag inwards at corner)

4. Select cluster layer and resize as shown (Click for larger view):


5. Open tube again resize as desired and copy and paste to canvas.

6. Make sure all above layers are below frame layers.

7. Add initial, I used Angelic War 85 pt  black with 2px stroke #780000.

8. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished with the avi!



*Note* I always save my tags as a .psd file in case I make mistakes and to offer to others.

FTU Alice in Zombieland tutorial





Supplies

Kit: I used two FTU kits by Designs By Vaybs, Alice in Wonderland and The Witches Den
Tube: Alice in Zombieland by Joahannah von Frankenstein aka Koffin Kandy available at Artistic Reality Talent
Mask: HorsePlay's Pasture Mask 19 available here!
Wordart:  Available here!
Font: Sverige Script Decorated or font of choice
Program of choice (this tutorial was written specifically for Photoshop users)

Don't forget to save frequently!

1. Open new image 600 x 600 px.

2. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (14), resize 90%. Copy and paste to canvas. Reposition on the right side.

3. Duplicate layer and change blend mode to "Linear Burn".

4. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (52) copy and paste to canvas.

5. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (16), resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas. Reposition on the right side.

6. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (53), resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas. Reposition on the right side.

7. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (29), resize 90%. Copy and paste to canvas. Reposition near the bottom.

8. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (49), copy and paste to canvas. Reposition on the right side.

9. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (4), copy and paste to canvas. Reposition on the right side.

10. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (25), resize 75%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position on the left side. 

11. Duplicate layer, change blend mode to "Linear Burn" 50% Opacity. Merge layer down. (Right-click and select "Merge Down")

12. Duplicate layer. Flip horizontally (Edit->Transform->Flip Horizontal). Position on the right side.

13. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (15), resize 60%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position on the right side. 

14. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (26), resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position on the left side. 

15. Duplicate layer, change blend mode to "Linear Burn" 75% Opacity. Merge layer down.

16. Duplicate layer, position on the right side.

17. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (25), resize 75%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position in the middle. 

18. Using you Magic Wand tool, click inside the keyhole. Create a new layer and fill the selection with any color.

19. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland paper, resize to 600 x 600 (Alt+Ctrl+I). Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Create clipping mask. Merge layer down. 



20. Open tube, Resize as desired (I resized the full version 40%). Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Create clipping mask. Flip horizontally. Change blend mode to "Linear Light". 

21. Open DBV_TheWitchesDen_element (35), copy and paste to canvas. Place on left side.

22. Duplicate layer, then position on the right side. 

23. Use eraser tool to clean up around the edges.

24. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (24), resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position on the bottom right. 

25. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (15), resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position on the bottom right. 

26. Open DBV Alice in Wonderland element (29), resize 75%. Copy and paste to canvas. Position on the bottom right. 




27. Open tube and resize 75%. Copy and paste to canvas above all other layers. 

28. Duplicate layer and set blend mode to "Overlay" at 50% Opacity.

29. Open wordart supplied below and paste to upper right of template.



30. Add name. I used Sverige Script Decorated font in black, 72pt, with 2px stroke #638ecb.

31. Add drop shadow to layers if desired.

32. Open paper of choice, I used DBV_TheWitchesDenpapers (5), resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas.

33. Drag previous layer all the way to the bottom. Add mask (I used Mask HorsePlay's Pasture Mask 19) to layer {Press "Q" while on layer to enter quickmask selection, copy mask and paste, resize to fit canvas (Ctrl-T and then drag each side to edge of canvas, press enter to accept selection), Press "Q" again, then click on the button at the bottom of the layers that is a rectangle with a circle in the middle. Resize as desired.

34. Be sure to delete white background layer before saving.

35. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished!



*Note* I always save my tags as a .psd file in case I make mistakes and to offer to others.

FTU Scrapkit - Tortures of the Damned

I finally finished it! It was my first time, so forgive me if it isn't any good. I think I may just make another one in the future once I get the hang of kit making.

PTU She Wears Death tutorial




Supplies

Kit: The amazing PTU kit Dark October by Creationz by WitchysHeart available only at ART

Program of choice (this tutorial was written specifically for Photoshop users)

Don't forget to save frequently!

1. Open template, change image size to 550 x 403 px (Alt+Ctrl+I). Change canvas size to 600x600 px (Alt+Ctrl+C).

2. Delete Raster 8 layer.

3. Open WH-Moon#2, resize 33%. Copy and paste above Background layer.

4. Select all layers except L Square and R Square. Move down until template looks like this (Click to see original size!):



5. Open WH-Fog, resize 75%. Copy and paste to canvas above Moon layer. Position near the top of the canvas.

6. Open WH-Rusted Mesh, copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Rotate 90 degrees to the right (Edit->Transform->Rotate 90-degrees CW). Reposition as desired.

7. Open WH-Paper#3, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Rectangle layer. Create clipping mask. (Right-click layer and select "Create Clipping Mask".)

8. Open WH-Paper#11, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above R Square layer. Create clipping mask.

9. Duplicate layer (Ctrl-J), drag layer above L Square layer. Create clipping mask.

10. Open tube, copy and paste above previous layer. Position as desired. Create clipping mask. Change blending modes to "Overlay".

11. Open WH-Frame #3, resize 40%. Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Rotate and postion above left square.

12. Duplicate. Flip horizontally. (Edit->Transform->Flip Horizontal). Position over right square.

13. Open WH-Paper#15, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Circle layer. Create clipping mask.

14. Open WH-Frame #4, resize 43%. Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Position over circle layer.

15. Open WH-Paper#10, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Dotted Circle layer. Create clipping mask.

16. Open WH-MusicNotes#1, resize 75%. Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Position as shown:



17. Open WH-Paper#5, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Fat Bar layer. Create clipping mask.

18. Open WH-Paper#12, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Thin Bar layer. Create clipping mask.

19. Open WH-BarbedWire#1, resize 70%. Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Position over bar layers.

20. On the right side, I placed these elements:

WH-Tombstone #1 resized 30%
WH-Ivy resized 40%
WH-Rose#3 resized 20%
WH-Tombstone #2 resized 25%
WH-Candle #1 resized 10%
WH-Rose#2 resized 15% duplicated once and copy flipped horizontally
WH-Candle #2 resized 15%
WH-Skull #3 resized 25%

21. On the left side, I placed these elements:

WH-Bass Guitar resized 15%
WH-Guitar resized 15%
WH-MusicNotes#2



22. Open tube and resize 67%. Copy and paste to canvas above all other layers.

23. Duplicate layer and set blend mode to "Overlay" at 50% Opacity.

24. Open wordart supplied below and paste to upper left side of template.



25. Add name. I used Docteur Atomic font in black, 100pt, with 2px stroke #14b00a blend mode (of stroke) "Hard Light".

26. Add drop shadow to layers if desired.

27. Open WH-Paper#6, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas.

28. Drag previous layer all the way to the bottom. Add mask (I used Mask yezmask067 by Yez) to layer {Press "Q" while on layer to enter quickmask selection, copy mask and paste, resize to fit canvas (Ctrl-T and then drag each side to edge of canvas, press enter to accept selection), Press "Q" again, then click on the button at the bottom of the layers that is a rectangle with a circle in the middle. Resize as desired.

29. Be sure to delete white background layer before saving.

30. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished!

PTU Sweet As Honey tutorial



Supplies

Kit: The cute PTU kit Summer Buzz by Karra's Kreative Korner , available exclusively at Artistic Reality Talent

Program of choice (this tutorial was written specifically for Photoshop users)

Don't forget to save frequently!

1. Open template, change image size to 550x550 px (Alt+Ctrl+I). Change canvas size to 600x600 px (Alt+Ctrl+C).

2. Delete the following 6 layers:
My
beats for you
Layer 1
BeMine text
be mine - be mine... copy 2
be mine - be mine... copy

3. Remove layer fx from remaining layers (drag effects to trash bin icon at bottom of layers.)

4. Move the bottom 2 layers down slightly. Then move the top 4 layers to the right slightly as shown (click to see full size):



5. Open KKpaper11, copy and paste to canvas above frame layer. Create clipping mask. (Right-click layer and select "Create Clipping Mask".)

6. Open KKpaper2, copy and paste to canvas above rectangle layer. Create clipping mask.

7. Open KK_netting, copy and paste above previous layer. (I added drop shadow to mine while I was working so it was visible).

8. Open KKpaper7, copy and paste to canvas above large square layer. Create clipping mask.

9. Delete the frame layer that is below the large square layer.

10. Open KK_frame1, resize 75%. Copy and paste above previous layers. Rotate slightly counter-clockwise and position so that it covers large square layer.

12. Delete the frame layer below the circle layer.

13, Open KKpaper12, copy and paste to canvas above circle layer. Create clipping mask.

14. Open KK_frame3, resize 50%. Copy and paste above previous layer. Position so that it frames the circle layer.

15. Open KKpaper11, copy and paste to canvas above frame layer (below small square layer). Create clipping mask.

16. Open tube (I used orange and black layers since the orange is close to the colors of the kit), change blend mode to "Hard Light", then create clipping mask.

17. Open KKpaper2, copy and paste to canvas above small square layer. Create clipping mask.

18. Copy and paste tube again above previous layer. Resize as desired. Erase any part of the tube that hangs below the template.

19. Duplicate layer. Change blending mode of duplicated layer to "Screen" with 60% Opacity.




20. On the left side, I placed these elements:

KK_ribbon3, resized 50% duplicated once and placed around the left side and bottom of green frame
KK_leaf1, resized 50%, duplicated once
KK_heart flower, resized 50%
KK_leaf2, resized 40%, duplicated once
KK_leaf1, resized 30%, duplicated once

and
KK_wired heart, resized 80% (place across bottom)

KK_bow1, resized 40% (place on the upper right side)








21. On the left side, place these elements:

KK_honeycomb1, resized 35%, duplicated once
KK_charm, resized 40%, duplicated once
KK_bird house, resized 50%
KK_bee trail1, resized 80%
KK_button2, resized , duplicated once
KK_flower1, resized , duplicated once
KK_honey dish, resized 40%
KK_bee2, resized 15%
KK_wordart1, resized 80%, with a brown Color Overlay (in Blending Options)



22. Add wordart provided here (right-click and save):



23. Add name. I used Lemondrop size 72 #fcc537 with 2px stroke #4c2408.

24. Add drop shadow to all elements if desired.

25. Open KKpaper5, copy and paste to canvas.

26. Drag previous layer all the way to the bottom of layers. Add mask of choice (I used WSL_Mask289) to layer {Press "Q" while on layer to enter quickmask selection, copy mask and paste, resize to fit canvas (Ctrl-T and then drag each side to edge of canvas, press enter to accept selection), Press "Q" again, then click on the button at the bottom of the layers that is a rectangle with a circle in the middle. Resize as desired.

27. Be sure to delete white background layer before saving.

28. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished!

PTU Gone tutorial



Since it is Mother's Day tomorrow, I decided to make a tag in memory of her!

Supplies
Kit: The amazing PTU kit Death of A Rose by Tragic Scraps available at ART
Tube: Individual Tube 34-1 by Anna Marine available at CDO
Mask: MC_MisfitChoiceMask5 by Melissa from Creative Misfits available here , or mask of choice
Template: Template 220 by Denny available here
Fonts: Mesquite Std and Respective or fonts of choice
Program of choice (this tutorial was written specifically for Photoshop users)


Don't forget to save frequently!

1. Open template, change canvas size to 600 x 600 px (Alt+Ctrl+C). Change resolution to 72 pixels/inch but keep image size 600 x 600 px (Alt+Ctrl+I).

2. Delete Raster 1 and small white shape layers.

3. Select remaining layers and move up slightly, your canvas should look like this (click for larger view):



4. Open Mash Tagback, resize 71%. Copy and paste above back layer. Duplicate (Ctrl +J) 3 times and position in corners.

5. Open Paper 12, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above blue circle 2. Create clipping mask. (Right-click layer and select "Create Clipping Mask".)

6. Duplicate layer twice and drag one above Raster 5 and one above Raster 8. Create clipping mask both times.

7. Open tube, select close-up (layer 4), copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Create clipping mask. Change blending mode to "Hard Light".

8. Open Paper 13, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above white shape 2. Create clipping mask.

9. Paste tube close-up above previous layer, reposition as desired. Create clipping mask. Change blending mode to "Darker Color".

10. Open Paper 16, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above blue rectangle. Create clipping mask.

11. Paste tube close-up above previous layer, reposition as desired. Create clipping mask. Change blending mode to "Hard Light".

12. Open Paper 12, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above black strip. Create clipping mask.

13. Open Feather 1, resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas above Previous layer. Position in the upper right.

14. Duplicate layer (Ctrl-J). Flip Horizontally (Edit->Transform->Flip Horizontal). Position in the upper left of canvas.

15. Open Ribbon 4, resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas above Previous layer. Rotate (Ctrl-T) and position on the right side.

16. Duplicate layer (Ctrl-J). Flip Horizontally. Position on the left side and rotate slightly.



17. Open Rose 11, resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Position on the left side.

18. Open Rose 17, resize 50%. Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Position on the left side.

19. Open Paper 11, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above light blue shape. Create clipping mask.

20. Paste tube close-up above previous layer, reposition as desired on the right side. Duplicate layer and flip horizontally move to the left side. Create clipping mask with both layers. Change blending mode of both layers to "Hard Light".

21. Open Paper 16, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above light blue shape. Create clipping mask.

Copy and paste layer 1 of tube above previous layer. Reposition as shown. Duplicate layer. Change original layer's opacity to 20% and then change blend mode of the copy to "Vivid Light". Create clipping mask with both layers.

24. I placed these elements (see placement below or on tag) on the

Left side:
Rose Petal Scatter resized 50%
Vine resized 40%
Grave 1 resized 50%
Clock2 resized 50%
Rose 10 resized 35%
Clock 1 resized 50%
Love Potion 1 resized 25%
Lantern 1 resized 50%
Candle 2 resized 40%
Candle Cluster 1 resized 25%
Stash Box resized 25%

Upper right:
Bow 1 resized 30%



25. Open tube (layer 1) and copy and paste to canvas above all other layers.

26. Duplicate layer and set blend mode to "Overlay".

27. Place these elements on the left side as shown:

Candle Book and Rose 1 resized 25%
PockeWatch 25%


28. Create wordart or use premade wordart here:



I used Mesquite Std 72 pt color #3f0e35 with 2px stroke black (blend mode of stroke set to "Linear Dodge Add") and Respective 72 pt black with 2px stroke #541c49 (blend mode  of stroke set to "Linear Dodge Add").

29. Add name. I used Respective 125 pt (may need to be smaller depending on length of name) black with 2px stroke #541c49 (blend mode  of stroke set to "Linear Dodge Add").

30. If desired add a name and date. For date, I used Mesquite Std 30 pt black with 2px stroke #3f0e35 (blend mode of stroke set to "Linear Dodge Add") and for name I used Respective 85 pt black with 2px stroke #541c49 (blend mode  of stroke set to "Linear Dodge Add").

31. Add drop shadow to layers if desired.

32. Open Paper 15, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas.

33. Drag previous layer all the way to the bottom. Add mask (I used Mask MC_MisfitChoiceMask5 by Melissa) to layer {Press "Q" while on layer to enter quickmask selection, copy mask and paste, resize to fit canvas (Ctrl-T and then drag each side to edge of canvas, press enter to accept selection), Press "Q" again, then click on the button at the bottom of the layers that is a rectangle with a circle in the middle. Resize as desired.

34. Be sure to delete background layer before saving.

35. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished!

FTU Great Minds tutorial

Supplies

Kit: The awesome (now) FTU kit Evil Ann & Andy by Wicked Princess Scraps 
Tube: Cortney Zombie by Scott See available at Artistic Reality Talent
Mask: Misfitsmask#4madebyLNM-12 by LindaNM from Creative Misfits available here, or mask of choice

Font: PR8 Charade or font of choice
Program of choice (this tutorial was written specifically for Photoshop users)

Don't forget to save frequently!

1. Open template, change resolution to 72 pixels/inch and then image size to 550x516 px (Alt+Ctrl+I). Change canvas size to 600x600 px (Alt+Ctrl+C).

2. Open WP_EAA_BLOODSPLATTER, copy and paste above Raster 1 layer. Duplicate (Ctrl +J) 3 times and position in corners. 

3. Open WP_EAA_FENCING, resize 70%. Copy and paste above previous layers. Position in the center. 

4. Leave Raster 9 and its copy as is.

5. Open WP_EAA_PP10, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Raster 2. Add noise (Filter->Noise->Add Noise), 30%, Gaussian Distribution, Monochromatic. Create clipping mask. (Right-click layer and select "Create Clipping Mask".)

6. Duplicate layer twice and drag one above Raster 5 and one above Raster 8. Create clipping mask both times.

7. Open WP_EAA_PP11, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Raster 3. Create clipping mask.

8. Open WP_EAA_TREE, resize 90% Copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Position on the left side of template. Create clipping mask. 

9. Duplicate previous layer and drag layer to the top of the template. Use your eraser tool to erase bottom of tree so it appears to come out of the template.

10. Leave Raster 4 as is.

11. Open WP_EAA_PP2, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Raster 6. Create clipping mask.

12. Open WP_EAA_PP4, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Raster 10. Create clipping mask.

13. Open tube, copy and paste above previous layer. Duplicate layer. Create clipping mask for both layers. Change blending modes to "Soft Light". Position on opposite sides as desired.

14. Leave Copy of Raster 10 alone.

15. Open WP_EAA_PP1, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas above Raster 7. Create clipping mask.

16. WP_EAA_CEMETARY, copy and paste to canvas above previous layer. Duplicate layer and change blending mode to "Overlay". Create clipping mask with both layers.

17. Open tube, copy and paste to canvas above previous layer, reposition as desired. Duplicate layer. Change original layer's opacity to 20% and then change blend mode of the copy to "Vivid Light". Create clipping mask with both layers.

18. On the right side, I placed these elements:

WP_EAA_BLOODYROE resized 20% and duplicate 2 times (along the right side)
WP_EAA_CORNER resized 60% and rotated slightly
WP_EAA_TOMBSTONE resized 35%
WP_EAA_ROPE resized 30%
WP_EAA_AX resized 50%
WP_EAA_B LOODYBOX resized 20%
WP_EAA_BLOODYBOTTLE resized 30%
WP_EAA_BLOODYKEYS resized 15% and flipped horizontally
WP_EAA_SKELOTONHANDSINCAN resized 35%
WP_EAA_BRAIN resized 23% duplicated (with duplicated layer set to "Linear Light" blend mode)
WP_EAA_BLOODYKNIFE resized 35%
WP_EAA_GUN resized 25%


19. Open WP_EAA_BULLETHOLES and resize 11%. Copy and paste to canvas, set to "Hard Light" blend mode and dupicate a few times. Place as desired.

20. Open tube and resize 55%. Copy and paste to canvas above all other layers. 

21. Duplicate layer and set blend mode to "Soft Light" at 50% Opacity.

22. Open wordart supplied below (right-click and save) and paste to upper right of template.

23. Add name. I used PR8Charade font in black, 100pt, with 2px stroke #6f0404.

26. Add drop shadow to layers if desired.

27. Open WP_EAA_PP3, resize to 600 x 600 px. Copy and paste to canvas.

28. Drag previous layer all the way to the bottom. Add mask (I used Mask Misfitsmask#4madebyLNM-12 by LindaNM) to layer {Press "Q" while on layer to enter quickmask selection, copy mask and paste, resize to fit canvas (Ctrl-T and then drag each side to edge of canvas, press enter to accept selection), Press "Q" again, then click on the button at the bottom of the layers that is a rectangle with a circle in the middle. Resize as desired.

28. Be sure to delete white background layer before saving.

29. Add your watermark, save as .png and you are finished!
